I follow a number of writers on Facebook. We message back and forth on ideas about writing. A few of them suggested I check out some writers’ groups to see what I think. They suggested that some of them would be very helpful. I started checking out some and I joined a few. I was welcomed by a number of their members. I had offers to read my stories and have them critiqued. I found a number of proof readers and editors. They are also a great source to find open calls for submissions. So, I suggest that if you are a writer, join some of these groups. I’m sure you’ll find them as helpful as I did.
Writers Helping Writers is a great group. Just pose any question on their Facebook page and you’ll get a slew of answers and opinions. Calls For Submissions is a group that just lists open calls from publishers seeking new and advanced writers. The open calls are for all genres so you’ll find something there to fit your needs. For The Love Of Horror is my favorite group thus far. Writers give you tips on how to write a better story. It’s also a great site to find open calls for horror short stories and novels.
I certainly can’t list all the sites here today that I’ve joined. My point is that they are a great tool to use especially if you are a beginner like me. So go to Facebook and check them out. You’ll be glad you did.
